NR Boys Track and Field Results for Villa Madonna Invitational

Congratulations on New Richmond's boys track and field results on Wednesday night at Dixie Heights for the Villa Madonna Invitational. This was the first year New Richmond's team traveled to Kentucky to experience running against Kentucky High School track programs. There was a total of 15 teams at this invitational and the boys team placed 3rd overall. It down-poured the majority of the meet, however our team pushed through and competed well. The team will be traveling to Goshen Friday night to participate in the Goshen Invitational. Field events start at 4:00 with running starting at 4:30.

New Richmond Wrestling City All-Stars

Congratulations to the following Wresters for being named to the Cincinnati Enquirer Wrestling All-Stars. Brody Hooks, Austin Skaggs, Cody Gabelman and JR Forsee 1st team. AJ Rostetter, Robbie Lemar, Ryan Zawacki, Clay Loadman, Cory English, Kevin Reid and James White Honorable Mention.

Important Meetings

April 27th Boys soccer meeting for any boy interested in playing soccer next year from incoming freshman to 10th, 11th and 12th graders. 2:45 in the high school cafeteria. May 1 there will be a girls soccer meeting for the parents of any girl interested in playing soccer next year from incoming freshman 10th, 11th and 12 grades. The meeting is at 7:00 in the cafeteria. May 21st 7:00 in the cafeteria a parent meeting for all boys interested in playing football next year from incoming freshman to 10th, 11th and 12th graders.

JV LADY LIONS SOFTBALL

Congratulations to the JV Softball team on their victory last night against the Bethel Tigers, 13-11. Losing in the 3rd inning by 5 runs the team fought back with doubles hit by Lindsay Slone, Laura Sacco,  April Schmidt, Hannah Slye and Aly Skaggs to secure the win.  Great pitching was done by Rachel Zawacki and catching by Kelsey Kirschner.  Sam Mcdowell and Lew Watkins protected the outfield not allowing Bethel to score anymore runs. Michaela Nordyke lead the team with 3 Rbi's.  Great job was done by all.

Lady Lions Win

The Lady Lions beat Bethel Tigers tonight in 8 innings.  Losing by 2 in the top of the 7th, with 2 outs, the Lions came up big with a single by Cassidy Martin followed by hard hits ball by Morgan Powers and Bailey DeWeese that tied the game.  The Lions then played steller defense with 3 up 3 down to head into the 8th inning.  The ladies started the inning with a double by Nikki Brittain and a bunt by Hannah Murphy.  With 2 outs, Kelsi Curry, Cassidy Martin, & Bailey DeWeese hit in 4 runs to put the Lions up 10-6.  Again, with great defense, Tigers were 3 up 3 down to end the game.  Overall, the team had 5 singles, 6 doubles, and a triple.  Cassidy Martin went 4 for 5, Kelsi Curry had 2 doubles, & Bethany Smith had a double.  Nikki Brittain was the winning pitcher.

COMEBACK VICTORY

The Varsity Baseball team needed an amazing comeback yesterday to defeat Indian Hill by the score of 14 to 12. Trailing 9-2 with one out in the 5th inning, it appeared that the Lions would suffer their 3rd straight defeat. However, the Lions broke out of their recent team hitting slump and scored 12 runs in the last 3 innings to overtake the Braves. The win improves the Lions record to 17-2. The 1st place Lions have a tough road game today at Bethel, where they will attempt to hold sole possession of 1st place in the SBC. SBC STANDINGS NR 5-2 Bethel 4-3 CNE 4-3 W. JV BASEBALL OVER INDIAN HILL

The JV Baseball team defeated Indian Hill yesterday by the score of 13 to 3. The win puts the JV Lions record at 18 and 2 for the season. Bethel comes to visit the JV Lions today at 4:30.

GIRLS TRACK MILFORD INVITE

The girls track team placed 7th at the Milford Invitational last Friday, competing against one other Division II school, and 10 Division I schools. The team ran, threw, and jumped some of their best attempts. Ashlee Lewis and Christine Lutz threw personal bests in the shot, Mikeala Rupp jumped her longest attempt in long jump, the 4x800 team consisting of Sarah Glenn, Paige Anderson, Emily Barcheski, and Olivia Behymer ran their best time , as well as the 4x200 team consisting of Jill Flenniken, Kelsey Hardin, Kayla Owens, and Mikaela Rupp. Taryn Rupp ran her best time this year in the mile. Ashleigh Beard and Eleanor Wildey threw best distances in the discus, and Olivia Behymer ran her best time this year in the 400 dash. The team had three school records broken...Aly Skaggs broke the pole vault record with a vault of 8'7.5, Hannah Hall broke her own high jump record with a jump of 5'4, and the 4x400 consisting of Sarah Glenn, Mikaela Rupp, Sarah Shoemaker, and Olivia Behymer broke the record with a time of 4:09. The following participants placed: 8th - 4X 1600 – Barcheski, Anderson, Burns, Glenn 6th - 4X800 – Glenn, Anderson, Barcheski, Behymer 8th - 100 Dash – Hardin 4th - 2X200 – Flenniken, Hardin, Owens, M. NR Boys Tennis Team Defeats Amelia 4 - 1

The New Richmond boys tennis team defeated Amelia 4 - 1 this past Tuesday.  Winners for the lions included:1st:

2nd: David Ohntrup: 6-4, 6-2

3rd: Henry Heidlage: 6-1, 6-2


Doubles

1st: Clint Lytle/Zach Manning (NR):6-0, 6-1

2nd: NR won by forfeit

The varsity tennis team travels to Anderson to play on Wednesday, while the boys JV tennis team hosts Anderson.

NR Lions Tennis Team Defeats CNE 5 - 0

The New Richmond tennis team defeated CNE 5 - 0 on a windy Monday afternoon. Winners for the lions included;

1st: Matt Rydzewski (NR) defeated Brown (CNE): 6-0, 6-0

2nd: David Ohntrup (NR) defeated Lawson (CNE): 6-0, 6-0

3rd: Henry Heidlage (NR) defeated Horn (CNE): 6-2, 6-1

Doubles

1st: Clint Lytle/Zach Manning (NR) defeated Schulte/Poe (CNE): 6-1, 6-0

2nd: Evan McKinely/Ben Green (NR) defeated Tellep/Woermann (CNE): 6-0, 6-1

The lions tennis team plays Amelia at home on Tuesday.

NR Boys Tennis Team Places 3rd at Coach's Classic Tournament

The New Richmond boys tennis team placed 3rd overall at the Coach's Classic Tournament that concluded this past Saturday at Princeton High School. The 1st doubles duo of Clint Lytle and Zach Manning won the 1st doubles flight, and teammates Evan McKinley and Ben Green claimed the title of 2nd doubles flight champions. Other strong finishers for the lions included Henry Heidlage, who placed 3rd in the 3rd singles flight, and David Ohntrup, who claimed 5th place in the 2nd singles flight.

JV BASEBALL SWEEPS, NOW 17-1

The JV Baseball team defeated Eastern Brown on Saturday by scores Of 10-0 and 16-1. Their record now stands at 17-1 and are looking to close in on 20 wins this week. Monday, the JV travels to Amelia in an SBC contest.

LIONS VARSITY BASEBALL DROPS THEIR FIRST GAME OF THE 2012 SEASON

The CNE Rockets defeated the Lions by the score of 5 to 2 last Friday. The Lions, supported by a great home crowd, had just 5 hits on the day and weren't able to solve the tough CNE pitcher. The Lions still control their own destiny for an out right SBC title. With 4 league games remaining, the Lions have a one game lead over Western Brown and a 2 game lead over CNE and Bethel. Amelia comes to visit the Lions on Monday for one of those important SBC contests. Good luck to the team as they come down the home stretch of the tough SBC campaign.
