Lady Lions varsity soccer fall to CNE Rockets

The team struggled from the beginning with CNE blasting off with a goal within the first minute. The Lions tried to rally back, but fell short with a 2-0 loss. The girls JV and Varsity teams will play again on Tuesday, September 7th against Amelia.

Mens soccer suffered its first loss of the season which was also the first league loss. CNE came out playing hard from the start of the game keeping the Lions on the defensive for most of the first half. New Richmond was unlucky with numerous shots hitting the uprights, crossbar, and goalkeeper, keeping the score 3-1. The men face a tough week next week with games against league foes Amelia on Tuesday, and Bethel on Thursday.

Lion Golfers Split Again

The N.R.H.S. Golfers split yet another Tri-Match. This time they split their match with Western Brown and C.N.E.. Western Brown shot a 170, New Richmond 186, and C.N.E. 193 at Cedar Trace Golf Course. Leading the Lions in scoring were Tyler Flood (42),David Ohntrup (47), Connor Tidball (48), Austin Wells (49), Henry Heidlage (50), and Austin Skaggs (52). The Lions record now sits at 5-4 on the season. The Lions will take on Goshen next on 9/7 at Deer Track Golf Course @ 4:00.

Tennis vs. Felicity

The girls tennis team improved their record to 3-3 with a win over Felicity. Match winners were, Sarah Jones 2nd Singles, Megan Tucker 3rd Singles, and Savannah Glenn and Marisa David 2nd Doubles.

Fall sports program goes on sale


The 2010 New Richmond High School Fall Sports program goes on sale Friday. The 32-page program includes team photos of all varsity and jv teams along with cheerleaders and the band and is a bargain at $4.

Volleyball: I hope your fingernails grow back!!

If you have not watched the varsity volleyball team play a game this season, you don't know what you are missing! After winning the first game 25-20, the lady lions fell to Amelia in the next two games. Being down 11-4, the girls fought back to take the fourth game. With the match tied 2 games each the Barons' got off to a 9-3 lead, and the deciding game only goes to 15 points. But the lions rallied once again to tie it up at 11. Then it went back and forth, we took a one point lead, then tied, one point lead, then tied. With the girls fighting hard and the gym roaring, the Barons' took the two point lead that was needed to win the game 19-17. Leading stats for the game were Hannah Lang with 27 assists, Brittney Strunk with 16 kills, Myla Gordo with 18 digs, and Lindsey Blankenship with 8 powerful blocks. The girls will play Batavia and Mariemont on Saturday at Mariemont. Come out and watch the girls as they play these fast-paced, intense games.

Girls varsity soccer win over Goshen

The Lady Lions took on the Warriors Tuesday night and found victory in a 2-1 win! Scoring for New Richmond came late in the first half when Kelsey Hensley placed the ball in the back of the net on a direct kick. Just seconds later, Kelsey Hensley assisted Courtney Grogan in, yet another, well placed ball in the net. The team plays at home again this Thursday when they take on the CNE Rockets at 7pm.

JV Girls Soccer

The JV girls soccer team suffered a tough lost to Batavia on Monday with a score of 1-0. The Lions played an excellent second half but couldn't come up with the victory. The JV lions play their first home game next Tuesday against Amelia. Go Lions!

Volleyball Opens League Play With Win

After losing the first game, the lady lions battled back, winning the next three games to seal a victory against CNE tonight. Lindsey Blankenship lead the team with 14 kills followed by Brittney Strunk with 12. Hannah Lang once again lead the team with 23 assists. Myla Gordo had 24 digs and Brittney Strunk had 19. Brittney Strunk had 3 blocks and Rachel Heflin had 3 block assists. Thursday night the ladies take on Amelia in another big league game.

Mens soccer is 2-0 in league play

After a very slow first half the boys closed out The Goshen Warriors 2-0. Sam Leffler scored the go ahead goal and Kaylin Kauth added the insurance, Scott Heater had one recorded save for the shut out. The Lions were a bit unlucky with multiple shots that struck the posts and crossbar. The overall record is now 3-0 and 2-0 in league play. League play is continued on Thursday with CNE at New Richmond.

Lady Lions Tennis Defeat Goshen

The ladies tennis team improved their record to 2-3 in SBAAC Conf play tonight with a win over Goshens Lady Warriors. The Lions beat the Warriors 3-2 in match play with wins coming from 2nd Singles Sarah Jones, 1st Doubles Miranda Stilwell and Alex White, 2nd Doubles Marisa David and Savannah Glenn. The Lady Lions will travel to Felicity on Thursday to face the lady Cardinals

N.R.H.S. Golfers Gain Split at Sharon Woods

The N.R.H.S. Golfers split a Tri-Match with Bethel and Norwood on Monday night. The final score was Bethel 177, New Richmond 180, and Norwood 196. Leading the Lions in scoring were Tyler Flood (41), Henry Heidlage (44), Connor Tidball (46), Austin Wells (49), David Ohntrup (51) and Austin Skaggs (52). The split pushes the Lions record to 3-3 on the season. The Lions will next Take on C.N.E. on Thursday 9/2 at Cedar Trace Golf Course at 4:00.

Volleyball Starts Off with Victory

In tonight's season opener against Fayetteville, the varsity volleyball team posted a win in three games with scores of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-17. Brittney Strunk lead the team with 8 kills, followed by Lindsey Blankenship with 7. Hannah Lang had 18 assists while Rachel Heflin had a team leading, 5 aces. On the defensive side of the game, Brittney Strunk had 18 digs, followed by Myla Gordo and Sarah Shoemaker with 7 each. The team had 8 huge blocks in the match, 3 each for Brittney and Lindsey. The team's home and league opener is tomorrow night with Clermont Northeastern. The freshman team is scheduled to start at 4pm, followed by JV at 5pm, and then Varsity at about 6pm.

Cross Country Boys & Girls Start the Season Off Great at the Wilmington Invitational

The New Richmond boys and girls cross country teams looked very strong at the Wilmington Invitational, which included as many as 23 teams with nearly 300 people in each race.
