Boys Basketball @ Goshen 12/22/09

The Boys Basketball team won its first game of the season by beating Goshen by a score of 56-53. Dylan Phillips hit for 17 points, while also making two clutch free throws late in the game to secure a two possession game. Shane Campbell scored 13 points, Jake Bostic had 8 points, Will Shoemaker 7 points, and Nick Hill 5 points. Brian Mazzaro added 6 assists. The Lions next game is January 5th @ CNE.

Girls Basketball @ Taylor

Monday 12-21 @ Taylor: Another close loss for the Lady Lions last night @ Taylor, the final score was 48-41. The deciding factors in the game were poor free throw shooting (13/29) and inconsistent defense. The lady lions again were led by Lindsey Blankenship with 17 Points and 13 rebounds. Fortunately, we have a couple weeks to improve and be ready to play @ Reading on Jan 4th.

GREAT SWIM AGAINST GREENFIELD MCCLAIN

The boys swim team beat Greenfield McClain on Thursday night by a score of 60 to 34. This is the first time we have beat them in 4 years. It was also the 1st loss for Greenfield at home in 2 yrs. We had good swims by everyone on the team. 1st place finishers were: Blake Beckett in the 200 yd. medley relay and his personal best time in the 100yd. Backstroke; Mark Miller in the 200 yd. medley relay, 200 yd. freestyle relay, 100 yd. breaststroke and his personal best in the 50 yd. freestyle; Alex Ariapad in the 200 yd. medley relay, 400 yd. freestyle relay, 100 yd. butterfly and his personal best in the 200 yd. individual medley; Jacob Singleton in the 200 yd. medley relay, 200 yd. freestyle relay, and 400 yd. freestyle relay; Alex Lewis in the 200 yd. freestyle relay, 400 yd. freestyle relay, 200 yd. freestyle and 500 yd. freestyle; Robbie Workman in the 200 yd. freestyle relay, 400 yd. freestyle relay, and his personal best in the 200 yd. individual medley and 100 yd. freestyle.
These young men had their best times on Thurs. at Greenfield McClain: Grant Gilman in the 100 yd. breaststroke, Steve Benton in the 100 yd. backstroke, Daniel Dooley in the 50 yd. freestyle, Tyler Flood in the 100 yd. freestyle and 100 yd.backstroke, Jacob Ober in the 100 yd. breaststroke, Theo Osterman in the 100 yd. backstroke, Joseph Shepherd in the 50 yd. freestyle, Trace Smith in the 200 yd. freestyleand 50 yd. freestyle, and Travis Wander in the 100 yd. freestyle.


The girls lost to Greenfield McClain by a score of 33 to 56. 1st place finisher was Kara Burns.
The young ladies who improved their times were: Gabby Benton in the 100yd. freestyle and the 50yd. freestyle; Vicky Booker in the 200 yd. freestyle and 500 yd. freestyle; Becky Lemar in the 50 yd. Freestyle; and Greer Neess in the 200 yd. freestyle and the 100 yd. backstroke.

Boys Basketball v Turpin

The Varsity Basketball team lost a physical game to Turpin High School Saturday night by a score of 66-51. Four New Richmond players scored in double figures. Dylan Phillips led the Lions with 12 points, and Shane Campbell, Will Shoemaker, and Steven Binder each had 10 points. Steven Binder had 4 assists and Dylan Phillips had 9 rebounds. The next game for the team is tuesday night at Goshen.
