Lions defeat Deer Park 61-14 in season opener



Andrew Nealan scored touchdowns on runs of 64, 14 and 24 yards and gained 149 yards in 10 carries to lead the Lions to a 61-14 win over Deer Park.

Nealan, pictured scoring on his 14-yard run, also scored on an 18-yard pass from quarterback Garrett Myers. You can view a video of Nealan's 74-yard run below.

Myers gained 121 yards in 8 carries for two touchdowns in addition to the touchdown pass for the Lions , who outgained Deer Park 475 to 210.

Other Lions scores came on a 25-yard pass from Austin Warden to Joey McCabe and TD runs of 18 yards by Nick Williams and 55 yards by Nick Hill.

Defensively, Kevin Hamilton and Andy Case led the Lions with 5 tackles each. Nealan, McCabe, Tre Jetter, and Alex Chesney were credited for 4.5 tackes while Austin Warden and Dany Scholz recorded 3.5 tackles.

Cross Country Meet (Wilmington) on Sat., August 29th

The NRHS cross country team will be traveling to Wilmington this Saturday (August 29th) for their first meet. The girls will run at 9:00 a.m. and the boys at 9:40 a.m. The meet is located behind the football field at Wilmington College. Parking is available in the adjacent YMCA or on the street. Cross country athletes are to meet behind the school at 6:50 a.m. to board the bus for the Wilmington Invitational.

Lady Lions JV Soccer against St. Ursula

The girls jv soccer team was defeated 5-0 last night against St. Ursula. Junior, Veronica Burnam played well in goal with several saves throughout the night. Captains, Hannah Paynter and Kelsie Ober did a great job encouraging the team to work on fundamentals and work together. The Lady Lions will play again on Thursday, September 3rd at home against Norwood.

Lady Lions Varsity Soccer against Goshen

The varsity girls soccer team was defeated 3-1 by Goshen last night. The team played well holding a 0-0 tie through 15 minutes of the 2nd half. Sophomore, Savannah Glenn scored the teams one goal later in the second half with a break away. Freshman, Cassidy Martin had an outstanding game with several saves. The Lady Lions play at Finneytown on Saturday at 7:00.

Varsity Volleyball Scrimmages

The lady lions varsity volleyball team has started the season out well in the scrimmages against Purcell Marian and Ripley. They won 4 out of 5 games against Purcell and 3 out of 4 against Ripley.

Passes and Seat License

Stop by the Athletic Director's office to pick up your Sports Pass, ten game pass or seat license for this year. All passes are good for New Richmond High School home events except post season play. Costs are as follows:
All Sports Pass: Adults $90.00/ Student $70.00
Ten Game Pass: Adult $50.00/ Student $30.00
Seat License: $25.00 plus admissions fee to the game.

Admission fee this year is the same as last year: $6.00 Adults/ $4.00 Students.

I would like to invite everyone to use our new athletic website throughout the year. We will continue to develop this site to hopefully keep you better informed about past and future events. A special thanks to Enos Pennington for the hours he spent developing this site over the summer. As always Enos a job very well done and much appreciated. There is no doubt in my mind that this is one of the top school websites in Ohio and one we should be proud of.

Pig Roast

Many thanks to the New Richmond Sports Foundation for the tremendous effort they put into the Pig Roast/Meet the Team Night Saturday. The rain didn't dampen the turn out or the enthusiasm of the evening. It was a great way to start the fall season in what we hope to be a great year. Thanks to all who came out to support our fall teams. We appreciate all the volunteers who helped make this night a tremendous success. Hope to see everyone Friday night for the first home football game. "GO LIONS!!

New Richmond Golf delivers 1st win of the season

The Lion golf team got their first victory of the season last night at Goshen. The Lions out shot the Warriors by a score of 177-180.Taking top honors for the Lions and also the Medalist for the match was Tyler Flood who shot a 39 on the front 9 at Deer Track Golf Course. Also playing for the Lions and their scores in the first victory of the season were Kyle Neal (45), Austin Wells (46), Jake Schumacher (47), Anthony Niederhelmen (53), and Evan McKinley (51).
Also traveling to Goshen to participate in a J.V. match were David Ohntrup (67), Matt Rydzweski (60), Steven Benton (64) and Wes Nagy (73). The Lions were defeated by the Warriors by the score of 220-264.

Lady Lions tennis defeats CNE 5-0

Congratulations to the girls tennis team for defeating CNE 5-0 in last night match. Winners included, Kody Blankenship 1st singles, Sarah Jones 2nd singles, Casey White 3rd Singles, Vada Stillwell and Miranda Stillwell 1st doubles, Marisa David and Alex White 2nd doubles, and Rachel Trowbridge and Sydney Clancy in a pro-set. The team is now 2-0 in the SBAAC.
