Good Road Win for Lady Lions

The Lady Lions Varsity Girls Basketball Team won a divisional road game vs Goshen last night by the score of 39-30. Josie Buckingham was impressive as usual, scoring 21 points while pulling down 20 rebounds and blocking 8 shots. Tina Lawrence contributed 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. The win improves their record to 9-5 on the season and 3-3 in conference play. Next @ Bethel-Tate Saturday.

Lions Basketball at Felicity

The Lions Varsity basketball team won at Felicity tonight by a score of 88-54. Leading the way for the Lions were John Ernst with 22 points and 9 rebounds, Austin Wells with 13 points, 4 assists, and 5 steals, Evan McKinley with 12 points, and Josh Heiden with 10 points and 5 assists. Chad Nort added 8 Rebounds. The Lions had a season high 25 assists. The Lions JV team won by a score of 66-26. JD Durham had 21 points and 7 steals. Bryce Kroeger had 7 points and 7 steals, and John Buckingham had 8 points and 3 blocks. The Lions Frosh team won by a score of 65-26. Paul Jaehnen had 20 points and made 6 3-pointers. Adam Nassar added 12 points. The Lions travel to Goshen on Friday night.

Lady Lions Lose 2nd Straight

The Varsity Lady Lions Basketball lost its second consecutive tonight, losing to visiting Seton 50-39. Josie Buckingham was solid as usual scoring 21 points, pulling down 15 rebounds, and blocking 6 shots. New Richmond was unable to defend the balanced offensive attack from Seton and failed to knock down open looks on the offensive end. The Lady Lions travel to Goshen Thursday to begin their second half of SBAAC-American play.

GREAT SWIM 400 YD. FREESTYLE RELAY

The girls 400 yd. Free Relay set a new school record at the Swim Classic on Sunday.  The team consisted of Jessica Nazareth, Ashlee Lewis, Megan Woolum and Kara Burns. The old record had been there since the early ninety's.  GREAT JOB LADIES.

There were 16 swimmers who participated at the Swim Classic over the weekend.  All the swimmers had good swims and a good time.

On Monday, Jan. 21st 8 NR swimmers went to the Break out Clinic at Keating Natatorium which was conducted by Ian Crocker and Misty Hyman, former Olympic swimmers.  The swimmers were Colt Reese, Tyler David, Noah David, Nick Flake, Kara Burns, Jessica Nazareth, Megan Woolum and Ann Bishop.   They had a motivational speech as well as drill work and each swimmer got to race an Olympian as well as getting there picture taken with the Olympians.  It was a great experience.

Wrestling Lions finish top 5 at the Hammer & Anvil tournament


The Hammer & Anvil tournament was loaded with talent this year. There was 37 state qualifiers, 17 state placers and 3 state champions in the field. There was 16 teams from three states represented.

The Lions pounded out a fifth place finish. They placed ten wrestlers in twelve weight classes.

The Lions were led by senior JR Forsee, finishing first in the 285lb weight class. James White and Clay Loadman finished second, Kevin Reid and Nathan Dixon finished third, Jay Troy placed fifth, Nathan Rostetter and Justin Patrick placed sixth, Will Lytle placed seventh and Jesse Troy placed eighth.

The JV Lions placed two wrestlers Saturday night at Western Brown. Jarod Bray placed second and Shawn Elam placed fourth.

Next up for the Lions is the State Duals. The #2 seeded Lions will host the first round Wednesday night. They will wrestle the winner of Goshen/CNE. The action starts at 6 pm. The Lions will wrestle around 7 pm. WE ARE NR!!
