The Varsity Wrestling Lions finish second at the Washington Court House Duals!

The most exciting tournament of the year even though the Lions came up a little short. It took a combined effort of blood, sweat and tears to challenge the host school for the title.

The first round the Lions wasted little time beating Jackson 75-3. The second round looked similar to the first round, Lions 75 Hamilton Badin 6. That vaulted the Lions into the medal round with Greenview, Ryle and Washington Court House. The Lions beat Greenview in the medal round 57-9. Next up for the Lions was Ryle. The Lions lost to the Raiders a few weeks ago in a close match. This time the Lions proved to be the better team, winning 40-30. Finally the Lions went to the center circle to battle the undefeated #1 DII team in eastern Ohio, WCH. The Lions started the finals with two tough losses. Down 7-0 the Lions came back to take the lead 15-7 with big wins from Kyle Weeks, Kevin Reid and James White. WCH won the next match and closed the gap, 15-13 Lions. Nathan Dixon took the bull by the horns and pinned his opponent, 21-13 Lions. WCH won by pin in the next match, 21-19 Lions. WCH won by technical fall to retake the lead, 24-21. Brody Hooks got the Lions back on track with a big win, 25-24 Lions. WCH won by major decision to regain the lead, 28-25. Cody Gabelman won in impressive fashion to tie the score, 28-28. WCH won by pin to take the lead 34-28 with one match left. Senior Robbie Lemar comes up with a big win to pull the Lions close but not quite enough, final score Lions 31 WCH 34. We could not ask for a better effort out of these young men. They rose to the occasion every match of every round.

The JV Lions traveled to Goshen and brought home some serious hardware! Nathan Rostetter, Tristan Williams, Zach Fields, Kenny Booker, Jay Troy, Justin Patrick and Will Lytle all won first!!! Cory Forsee and Branston Evans finished second. Cindy Hamilton placed third. Rodney Berwanger and Scott Wagoner placed fourth and Jared Bray placed sixth. This was the final meet for the JV Lions. Congratulations on a successful season. The future looks bright for the Lions Wrestling Program.

Next up for the Varsity is the SBAAC league meet Saturday @ CNE. The Lions will look to Three-peat as league champs. WE ARE NR!!
