AD Doug Foote appointed to District board

New Richmond High School athletic director Doug Foote has been appointed  to the Ohio High School Athletic Association's Southwest District Athletic Board for the 2013-14 school year.

Mr. Foote replaces Mark Hughes, the retiring athletic director at Oakwood High School, as the AA representative to the SWDAB.

The OHSAA is divided into six districts with the Southwest District covering 15 counties stretching from Cincinnati to Indian Lake.

“I really look forward to serving on this board in such an important time with all the changes going on with Open draw tournaments, Turnkey process for hosting tournaments, Eligibility and competitive balance issues and much more," said Foote, who is in his 5th year as AD at New Richmond after 15 years as head basketball coach at Marietta College. He also coached basketball at Rio Grande University.

Western Brown athletic director Tim Cook also serves on the SWDAB board and servces as vice president.

"It's nice to have two Southern Buckeye Conference AD’s on the SWDAB board," said Foote.

Scott Kaufman from Lakota West High School was also appointed to the board as a Class AAA representative to replace Western Hills AD Jim Sherrard. Other board members are Andy Bixler, superintendent of Anna Local Schols; John Kronour, superintendent at Tipp City; Pat McBridge, superintendent at Newton Local Schools; Jonas L. Smith, athletic director for Dayton Public Schools; Jan Wilking, athletic director at Oak Hills; and Steve Zimmerman, athletic director at Nagel Middle School.

"Adam (Supt. Adam Bird and Mark (NRHS principal Mark Bailey) have been great to allow me to stay involved in the SWD Athletic Directors meetings and committees, the OHSAA meetings and the SWDAB as well as the SBAAC and the committees I serve on it," said Foote. "Some of our all day meetings will cause me to miss a few events at NR they have allowed me to serve which I think is very important for New Richmond and our league."

2013 Lions basketball camp photo

The 2013 New Richmond High School Boys and Girls Basketball Camp attracted 105 players. The camp, conducteed by Lions varsity coach Brian McMonigle and Lady Lions varsity coach Brad Hatfield, featured current and past New Richmond players as camp instructors.

Physicals offered for $10 on June 5 at NRHS

Health Source Ohio will be giving Ohio High School Athletic Association required physical examinations for New Richmond High School and Middle School athletes for the 2013-14 school year from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the high school on June 5. Cost is $10 with all the money being donated by Health Source Ohio to the New Richmond High School athletic department.


The OHSAA requires the physical examinations for any student planning to participate in school athletics.

Parents or guardians must fill out the OHSAA PREPARTICIPATION PHYSICAL EVALUATION form. Download the form at http://www.nrschools.org/Downloads/PPE_2013-14.pdf.

A parent or guardian does not have to be present for the examinations as long as they have filled out and signed the PPE form for their student athlete.

Congratulations to the girls track team for placing 1st in the Mariemont Invitational last night. This meet is known to be one of the most competitive meets in the Cincinnati area. The team is now 70-1 on the season. JV SOFTBALL TEAM

The JV Softball Team  won against Goshen last night 10-8. Adrianna Flood and Aly Skaggs pitched a great game caught by Michaela Nordyke who also did a superb job.  Hitters of the game were Adrianna Flood with 1 double, single and rbi, Aly Skaggs with 1 double and 2 rbi's, Hannah Slye also with 1 double and 2 Rbi's, Hannah Calvert with 1 single and 2 rbi's and Lew Watkins with 1 single. The JV Softball Team had a pretty competitive season losing four games only by one run but ended their season with an overall record 7-8.
