New Richmond senior Alex Lewis is headed back to the state swimming meet as a district champion.
Lewis, who has signed with Cleveland State, won the Southwest District Div. II 100-butterfly, capturing the 100-butterfly gold with a time of 51.24 seconds at Miami University's pool.
Lewis also recorded a fast time in the 100-freestyle but will not know until Sunday if that time holds up to qualify for the state.
The New Richmond 200-medley and 200-freestyle relay teams recorded their best times of the season but failed to qualify for the state. The Lion swimmers recorded a time of 152.71 in the 200 medley and 127.02 in the 200 freestyle relay.
