New Richmond High School has been selected to host one of the Cincinnati Reds' Future High School Showcase games.
The varsity home baseball contest on Friday, April 12th vs. Goshen is part of the 2013 Reds Futures High School Showcase, which features 32 games involving the top high school baseball programs in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Todd Benzinger, a member of the 1990 World Series Champion Reds, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at New Richmond. Benzinger is a 1981 graduate of New Richmond High School and played for the Reds from 1989 to 1991. Benzinger's brother Brian is the varsity baseball coach at New Richmond.
For a $5.00 admission charge, you will receive all the following:
1) A ticket to the Lions vs. Goshen game
2) A voucher for a free Reds ticket for a future game (specific dates on the ticket)
3) A buy one/get on free Coney Island pass for one day this summer ($23.95 value)
4) A coupon for a free cheese coney from Skyline (with the purchase of any menu item...dine-in only)
The culminating event of the Showcase will be Sunday, April 21 with the players and coaches from the 64 high schools participating in a "March at the Majors" pregame parade at the Reds vs. Miami Marlins game. An MVP from each of the 32 games will be recognized on field during pregame ceremonies.
The tickets for the April 12th Reds Future game vs. Goshen will be on sale at the field during the varsity home games and in the main office in the High School.

New Richmond Invitational Boys Results
Congratulations
to the boys track and field team on their 5th place finish out of 15 teams at
the New Richmond Invitational. Placing for the team: 4x800 Relay consisting of
Luke Gilday, Bobby Bingham, Austin Torrens and Zach Fields with a 5th place
finish; Pierce Burnam placing 6th in the 110 Meter Hurdles; 4x200 Relay
consisting of Michael Huber, Darren Porter, Miles Burnam and Colt Reese with a
6th place finish; Bobby Bingham in the 1600 Meter Run placing 7th; 4x100 Relay
consisting of Aaron Pollard, Michael Huber, CJ Grogan and Clay Loadman with a
3rd place finish; Alex Nelson placing 6th and Darren Porter placing 7th in the
400 Meter Run; Pierce Burnam placing 4th and Colt Reese placing 5th in the 300
Meter Hurdles; Austin Torrens placing 1st in the 800 Meter Run; Bobby Bingham
placing 7th and Luke Gilday placing 8th in the 3200 Meter Run; 4x400 Relay
consisting of Austin Torrens; Austen Craig; CJ Grogan and Colt Reese with a 3rd
place finish; Pierce Burnam placing 8th in the High Jump; Aaron Pollard placing

2nd in the Discus and also placing 8th in the Shot Put. The team will be competing in the New Richmond Relays next Tuesday, April 9th.

NR Boys Tennis Team Improves To 3-0 With a Win Over Amelia
The New Richmond Boys Tennis Team improved their record to 3-0 with a 5-0 win over Amelia this past Thursday. Winners for the lions included;
1st Singles: Matt Rydzewski: 6-0, 6-0
2nd Singles: Cody Kirschner: 7-6(3), 6-1
3rd Singles: Alex Grooms: 6-0, 6-0
1st Doubles: Amelia Forfeit

Behymer owns records for 100, 200 and 400 meters
New Richmond junior Oliva Behymer shattered the 29-year old school record in the girls 100 meter dash with a time of 12.47 Wednesday in the preliminary round of the New Richmond Track Invitational. The previous record was 12.6 seconds by Shannon Maley in 1984.
She came back Thursday to break the school record in the 200 meters with a time of 26.35. Shannon Maley's (1984) and Beth Pate's (1985) shared the old record at 26.5. She broke Lisa Taylor's record (60.01) in the 400 meter run as a freshman with a time of 57.73.
Behymer was a 6th place finisher in the 400 meters in the 2011 OHSAA state Division II track championships.
Behymer's victories in the three sprints helped the Lady Lions win the New Richmond Invitational with a team total of 143.92 points. Second Place went to Western Brown with 74.92.
Also taking first in their events were Eleanor Wildey in the discus (90-02), Hannah Hall in the high jump (4-11) Kara Burns in the 3200 meters (12:14.39) and the 4x800 relay team of Emily Belmont, Claire Burns, Sarah Glenn and Maren Hance (10:36.3).

JV SOFTBALL
The JV Softball team started off their season in a good game against McNick but coming up short 7-9. Then coming back defeating Anderson 22-4. Rachel Zawacki had 9 strike-outs. Carrie Buckley new at catching did a superb job. Hitters of the game were April Schmidt with a triple and Rachel Zawacki with a double. Many singles were hit by Hannah Slye, Christin Smith, Lindsay Slone, Carrie Buckley, Shelby Koehler, Lew Watkins, Adrianna Flood, Annie Patrick, and Kristin Evans.

The New Richmond boys tennis team defeated Norwood 5-0 to open up the season with two wins. Winners for the lions included;

2nd Singles: David Ohntrup: 6-2, 6-2
3rd Singles: Newton McCullom: 6-0, 6-0
