BIG SPLASH AGAINST THE BRONCOS

The girls swim team beat Western Brown by a score of 64 to 1. 1st place finishers were: 200 Medley Relay - Micah Brondhaver, Kara Burns, Jessica Nazareth, and Amanda Schmidt; 200 Free- Vicky Booker; 200 Individual Medley- Micah Brondhaver; 50 Freestyle- Amanda Schmidt; 100 Free- Gabby Benton; 500 Free- Kara Burns; 200 Free Relay- Gabby Benton, Jessica Nazareth, Amanda Schmidt, and Kara Burns; 100 Back-Micah Brondhaver; 100 Breast- Kara Burns; and 400 Free Relay-Ann Bishop, Micah Brondhaver, Amanda Schmidt and Jessica Nazareth. 2nd place finishers were: 200 Free- Becky Lemar; 50 Free- Jessica Nazareth; 100 Free- Monique Ostermann; 500 Free- Vicky Booker; 100 Back- Ann Bishop; 100 Breast- Gabby Benton.

The boys swim team beat Western Brown by a score of 77 to 14. 1st place finishers were: 200 Medley Relay - Alex Ariapad, Robbie Workman, Grant Gilman, and Tyler David; 200 Free- Tyler David; 200 Individual Medley- Alex Ariapad; 50 Free- Steve Benton; 100 Butterfly- Alex Ariapad; 100 Free- Tyler David; 500 Free- Theo Ostermann; 200 Free Relay- Alex Ariapad, Tyler David, Colt Reese, and Robbie Workman; 100 Back- Robbie Workman; 100 Breast- Grant Gilman; and 400 Free Relay- Steve Benton, Daniel Dooley, Tanner Duncan, Trace Smith. 2nd place finishers were: 200 Free - Trace Smith; 50 Free- Robbie Workman; 100 Free- Colt Reese; 500 Free- Conall Stapleton; 200 Free Relay- Steve Benton, Daniel Dooley, Tyler Flood, and Trace Smith; 100 Back- Colt Reese; 100 Breast- Jake Ober; and 400 Free Relay- Cody Biehle, Tyler Flood, Theo Ostermann, and Conall Stapleton.
Great job by all the swimmers.
Next home meet is on Thurs., Jan. 20 against Little Miami and Summit Country Day.

Wrestling does battle with Maderia & Ross @ Ross.

Last night the JV and Varsity took their show on the road to clash with the #2 ranked Ross Rams and the #5 ranked Madeira Mustangs. The Ross match started with solid wins by the Hooks brothers, Jordan and Brody. The Lions lost the next two matches. The Lions then pinned their hopes on senior Sam Anderson to reclaim the lead and of course Sam came through with a big win, Lions back in the lead. The Lions lost the next two matches and then Ryan Zawacki lost a close match 8-6. Junior Cory English captured the next win with a strong performance. Luke Hoskins followed up Cory's win with a disappointing overtime loss. Kevin Reid picked up his teammate with a dominating win. The Lions dropped the next two matches and then JR Forsee showed them what Lions Pride is all about with a technical fall of his Ross opponent! Final score Ross 43 and the Lions 27.
Next up was the Madeira Mustangs and we all know what happens when the Lions come off a loss, a dominating victory! Yes the Lions went wire to wire winning 9 of the 14 weight classes. Sophomore Nathan Dixon had an impressive win. Juniors Austin Skaggs and Cody Gableman showed their skill with solid wins over Madeira. Cory English was the top team point performer last night with 12 team points, Nice work Cory!
The JV finished the night with wins by James White, Tristan Williams, Jay Troy, Clay Loadman and Chris Klinker. WE ARE NR!

NR Girls Win vs Batavia

The Lady Lions varsity girls basketball team scored their 7th victory of the season last night defeating visiting Batavia 35-20. Tough defense applied by the girls the last 3 quarters allowed them to pull away. Their defense allowed only 9 field goals for the entire game, only 3 in the second half. Offensively, good ball movement and strong offensive rebounding by Reno Frayne and Josie Buckingham allowed the lions to score off the zone defense applied by Batavia. Frayne led the way by scoring 13 points and collecting 10 rebounds. The win improves their record to 7-5 overall. Next at home vs Taylor Tuesday 1-18.

Boys Basketball Game Change

Boys Basketball Game at Williamsburg scheduled for Jan 22nd has been moved to Feb 8 at 6/7:30.

Game tonight has been cancelled and rescheduled for Jan 28th.

JV Lions wrestlers travel north Saturday and place ten.

The Lions journeyed north to Washington Court House Invitational Saturday morning. Although they didn't keep a team score we all know what place the Lions would have finished placing ten in the top four! The Lions had two wrestlers place first, Chris Klinker and James White. Nathan Rostetter, Mickey McCollum and Will Lytle placed second. Four wrestlers finished third, Tristan Williams, Aaron Pollard, Autumn Clark and Ryle Beckerich. Finally Jay Troy had a strong fourth place finish.
Next up for the Lions is the New Richmond Invitational Saturday, be there! WE ARE NR!

Lady Lions Lose @G-Town

The Lady Lions Girls Basketball Team took a hard loss vs undefeated Georgetown last night 51-24. Relentless full court pressure from the Lady G-Men forced 34 Lady Lion turnovers which led to easy baskets. Defensively, the girls were unable to contain the talented Georgetown guards. Josie Buckingham played strong underneath scoring 9 points and collecting 10 rebounds while Reno Frayne added 7 points and 9 rebounds. Next at home vs Batavia Thursday 1/13.

New Richmond Boys Basketball

The Varsity Boys Basketball team had a tough weekend playing two of the leagues top teams. The Lions traveled to Western Brown on Friday night losing 64-28. The JV boys lost a tough game to Western Brown but the Freshman Boys prevailed with a victory.
Saturday night the program started out with two great wins. The Freshman improved t0 6-1 with the win over Goshen. The JV also improved their record with a 10 point win. The Varsity boys basketball team lost a tough Battle with the first place team in the SBC. The final score was Goshen 61, New Richmond 46. The lions were led by Chris Turner with 15, Jake Gundler with 14 and Sam Leffler with 14. The lions travel to Felicity on Tuesday.

Big Win for Lady Lions

The Lady Lions girls basketball team scored a big win vs. Western Brown Saturday leading wire to wire with the final score being 45-31. The win moves the Lions into 1st place tie in the SBAAC-American Division. The girls were able to defeat the 3-time defending champions through sound offensive execution and stellar defensive play. Reno Frayne led the way on both ends scoring a game-high 21 points and collecting 12 rebounds. Josie Buckingham added 12 points and 9 rebounds to the cause while Sarah Shoemaker and Courtney Grogan contributed solid ball-handling down the stretch. Senior Brandi Riley played a key role defensively in her first start this season. It was a great team victory all around - thanks to all who attended or listened online. Next @ Georgetown Monday 1/10.

The Wrestling Lions finish 2nd out of 19 @Madeira Invitational.

The Lions finished a close second to Reading. It was basically a two team race over the past two days. Reading finished with 271 points to the Lions 231, third place was a distant 100 points away! The Lions went 27-1 Friday night only to lose 10 out of 13 semifinal matches Saturday morning. The Lions wrestled hard Saturday afternoon to get back in the race but in the end came up a little short of the the title.
NR had one champion, JR Forsee, who pinned his way through the tournament! Brody Hooks and Austin Skaggs finished second losing close finals matches. Cory English, Clay Loadman and Kevin Reid finished third. Jordan Hooks, Cody Gabelman, Tyler Loyd and Lance Houser finished fourth, Brandon Mues, Ryan Zawacki and Nathan Dixon finished fifth.
Next up for the Lions is a "Rumble in Ross" Thursday night, be there! WE ARE NR!
