Boys track and field league meet at Georgetown

Sectional Softball Game

The sectional softball game vs Mercy HS today at 5:00 will be at Delhi Park off of Foley Rd. The field will be in the back all the way through the park.

VARSITY BASEBALL BEATS THE HEAT....AND THE BARONS

The Lions varsity baseball team survived the hot and humid conditions to outlast the Amelia Barons on 5/11/11. The 15-11 victory extended the team's winning streak to 7 and improved their record to 11-8. Senior Zak Ritter pitched three very effective innings, then turned the lead over to underclassmen Kevin Scholz, Grant Gilman, and Levi Simpson, respectively. Ritter was also one of the offensive leaders by collecting 3 hits on the day. Sophomore Cole Bird smashed four hits and drove in four runs and senior Steven Binder chipped in two hits of his own. The Lions travel to Batavia today for their 2nd round sectional tournament game to take on the Bulldogs. Game time is 5:00.

JV LADY LIONS SOFTBALL

Congratulations to the JV Lady Lions on their victory against Amelia last night 16-2. The final game of the season continued to have excellent defense by our first baseman-Riley Deweese, 2nd baseman-Michaela Nordyke, Shortstop-Morgan Powers, 3rd Baseman-Jae Mosley/Kelsey Kirschner, Pitcher-Nikki Brittain and Catcher-Bailey Deweese followed up by our outfielders Hannah Murphy, Jessica Mowery, Rachel Zawacki and April Schmidt. Everyone on the team hit and scored. The JV Lady Lions are to be commended on their representation of our school and league record of 9-2. Congratulations

Mahhaffey Chooses Campbellsville University

New Richmond football is proud to announce that Marty Mahaffey has committed to go to school and play football for Campbellsville University.

SWOFCA Honors Coach Buddy Stark

The South Western Ohio Football Coaches Association has selected New Richmond assistant football coach Buddy Stark as this years Doc Collins Award winner. The award is to recognize an south western district assistant coach who makes an invaluable impact on a high school football program. Coach Stark is well deserved recipient for all he does for the Lions football players. Coach Stark will be recognized during the Annual Cincinnati East West All Star game held at Kings High School, on June 9th.

VARSITY BASEBALL HOT!

The varsity baseball team has put together an impressive winning streak to improve its record to 10-8. Tough, heartbreaking, and very close losses, along with rainouts, dominated the early part of the season. Since, the Lions have won 6 straight. Below is a summary of the winning streak:
4/30 NR 10, Fayetteville 0 - Senior Justin Underwood tosses a no-hitter and seniors Steven Binder and Austin Warden collect 3 hits each

4/30 NR 5, Fayetteville 3 - Junior Grant Gilman throws a 2 hitter and sophomore Tanner Wolfe collects 3 RBI

5/4 NR 10, Amelia 0 - Warden dominates the Barons allowing only 4 hits. Senior Zak Ritter and freshman Levi Simpson rip 3 hits each.

5/5 NR 9, Western Brown 8 - The Lions overcome a 7 run deficit to come back and beat the then first-place Broncos in 8 innings. Binder and Warden collect three hits each, with Binder smashing the game-winning single.

5/9 NR 13, Goshen 10 - A 5 for 5 offensive performance by Binder, along with sophomore Cole Bird's homerun and 3 RBI's lead the offense. Underwood, Gilman, Austin Skaggs, and Binder all shared the pitching duties.

5/10 NR 9, Taylor 0 (SECTIONAL TOURNEY) - Warden was too much for the yellowjackets on his way to the shutout with 8 strikeouts. Stellar defense and 12 hits provided the support needed and the Lions advance to play Batavia in the 2nd round of the tournament on 5/12

Lady Lions Rack up Two More Wins

The Lady Lions beat Goshen on Monday night for the second time this season with a score of 4-2. Amanda Schmidt added another win to her pitching record along with a double by Brandi Riley and a sacrifice by freshman April Schmidt.

The Lady Lions had a spectacular comeback last night. Losing 6 -1 in the bottom of the 5th, the Lions went on an 8 running scoring streak to beat Bethel 9-7 in the first game of the sectional tournaments. Katerine Curtis racked up another win on the mound, Kallie Long went 2 for4 with a single & double, Kaitlyn Davis went 2 for 4 with a double and a triple, Amanda Schmidt with 2 for 4. Myla Gordo slid into home without bouncing over the plate and onto the catcher.

The Lady Lions play Amelai tonight at Amelia and Mercy tomorrow at Mercy in the secound round of the sectionals.

JV LADY LIONS SOFTBALL

Congratulations to the JV Lady Lions Softball on their victory against Goshen last night 12-2. The game was won on hard hit singles by the whole team and outstanding base running. The team is now 8-2 in the league.

Jv Lady Lions played a very tense double header against Batavia Friday winning the first game 1-0 but losing the second game in extra innings 4-5. The game was controlled with the outstanding pitching, catching, and hitting of Nikki Brittain and Bailey Deweese. Both players hit a double and 2 singles. Hannah Murphy Riley Deweese, Kelsey Kirschner, Aly Skaggs, Morgan Powers, and Michaela Nordyke also had singles.
