OSU Cheer Camp Results
The New Richmond Cheer Team participated in the Universal Cheer Association (UCA) cheer camp at The Ohio State University from August 10th through August 12th.
On the first night of camp, Senior Tanna Murphy won first place in the "Cheer-off" against 200 cheerleaders.
Tanna's success was the first of many for NR's Cheer Team. Tanna and Amanda Nguyen (freshman) were given the "Pin it Forward" award for Leadership, which was only presented to ten cheerleaders of the 200. New Richmond was the only cheer team to have two representatives.
All four seniors were named "All-American Cheerleader(s)". The All-American award is the highest, most elite award given to a cheerleader by UCA. The audition process for the award is very stressful and strenuous. Congratulations to New Richmond's "All-American Cheerleader(s)" Captain Kelly Gatch, Kayla Maupin, Tanna Murphy, and Captain Brooke Scharber.
The cheer team placed second in the cheer competition against 12 other cheer teams.
Additional accomplishments:
Junior Varsity "Jump-off" finalists: Amanda Nguyen and Shelby English (freshman)
Seven "Superior" ribbons
One "Excellent" ribbon
One spirit stick
Cheers!
Coach Heather and Coach Heidi
