The JV Wrestling Lions open the season at Wilmington.
The first tournament of the year was a huge success. The Lions placed 10 wrestlers out of 14 weight classes. They did not keep a team score but we know the results if they would have, Lions win! Brody Hooks placed first, Tyler Loyd, Mickey McCollum, Chris Klinker and Aaron Pollard finished second, Tristan Williams and Clay Loadman finished third, AJ Rostetter and Zack Fields finished fourth and Ryle Beckerich finished fifth. Coach Minor was impressed with the Lions performance for the first meet of the year. He explained they have a long way to go but this was an impressive beginning to the 2010-2011 season! WE ARE NR!
The Wrestling Lions takedown the first meet of the year!
The Lions attacked the Roger Bacon duals Saturday morning. They posted a 72-6 win over Roger Bacon in the first round. The second round saw the Lions dominate the Mariemont Warriors. Then came the Norwood Indians who were no match for the Mighty Lions. The fourth round was a battle for the ages. The Lions faced the Reading Blue Devils, both teams unbeaten and hungry for a trip to the finals. The Lions started off hot with two wins in quick fashion, then Reading won the next four followed by a few impressive wins by the Lions. When the dust settled the Lions fell a little short losing 39-23. The final round of the day was for third place with the Lions squaring off against the Wyoming Cowboys. Those Cowboys felt the wrath of a Lion team coming off their first loss of the season, Lions 62 Cowboys 9. enough said!
Austin Skaggs, Cody Gableman, Ryan Zawacki and JR Forsee all went undefeated, posting a 5-0 record. Nathan Rostetter, Sam Anderson, Robbie Lemar and Kevin Reid went an impressive 4-1. WE ARE NR!
