Lions get first shutout of the season, 27-0


Andrew Nealan gained 95 yards in 17 carries in the mud and scored on runs of 15 and 5 yards to lead the Lions to their first shutout win of the season.

Mike Maupin scored the Lions on a 46-yard run and gained 80 yards in 11 carries and quarterback Garrett Myers hit Brian Mazzaro on an 18-yard TD pass for New Richmond's other scores.

Myers gained rushed for 63 yards in 10 carries as the Lions recorded 210 yards rushing despite the lack of footing.


Senior linebacker Andy Case led the defense with a team high eight tackles and junior defensive end Austin Warden had four tackles and two sacks for a loss of 15 yards as the Lions held Northeastern to 28 yards total offense, including minus-two rushing yards

A rainy victory for girls jv soccer!

Thursday night's weather may have been dreary, but the girls jv soccer team didn't let that stop them from a huge win over North Adams! Having only played a few games together this season (due to cancelations) the girls worked well on making great plays to beat the Lady Devils 3-0. Scoring for the Lady Lions was Courtney Grogan, Kayla Owens, and Riley Deweese with an assist from Courtney Grogan. Veronica Burnam had her 1st shut out for the season. The jv girls will play again on October 12th at home against Milford at 7:00.

LADY LIONS VARSITY VOLLEYBALL

The Lady Lions defeated Georgetown Thursday night 3 out of 4 games 25-22, 21-25, 25-15, and 25-18. A great team effort was played by all. The girls will travel to Blanchester on Monday 9/28.

A (Tyler) Flood hits Whiteoak Golf Course Hard

Junior Tyler Flood was the medalist in the S.B.A.A.C. #4 held @ Whiteoak Golf Course Thursday. Tyler shot a round of 39 and was co-medalist with Jason Adams of Bethel. The team scores for the match are as follows:

The final round of the S.B.A.A.C. tournament will be held on 9/26 @ Whiteoak Golf Course in Sardinia. The 9 team ( American and National Divisions) match will start at 7:45 am and the teams will play 18 holes. Tyler Flood is currently sitting in 8th place in league play. Freshmen Evan McKinley and Austin Wells are sitting in 16th and 17th place ,respectively. Sophomore Jake Schumacher is currently in 20th place overall. The overall team standings have the Lion Linksters sitting in 4th place overall,but only 4 strokes out of 3rd place.

LADY LIONS VARSITY VOLLEYBALL

Congratulations to the another Lady Lions victory over Williamsburg last night. A great game was played by all. The team won 3 out of 4 games; 15-25, 25-15, 25-21 and 25-18. Kate Schumacher, Lindsey Blankenship, Brittney Strunk led the team with 8 kills followed by Briana Rose with 6 and Sarah Shoemaker with 4. This was all made possible by the 32 digs made in the backcourt from Myla Gordo passing up the ball to Mercedes Featherkile who sets our hitters. The team was led in serves by Ashley Strunk serving 10 consecutive serves with 2 aces. The girls will play tonight at Home against Georgetown come and cheer on the Lady Lions.

Lion Golfers finish Fifth Place in S.B.A.A.C. #4

The Lion golfers finished fith in the 4th S.B.A.A.C. match of the year. The young Lions played well , but came out alittle short. The team shot a 195 and were paced in scoring by Tyler Flood(39), Jake Schumacher (51), David Ohntrup (52), Austin Wells (53), Anthony Niederhelmen (54), and Evan McKinley (56). The Lion golfers now have a 7-14 record on the year. They will play their league ending 18 hole match on Saturday @ White Oak.

The boys pull out a win after a slow start

The boys started out slow against Felicity, which allowed them to be in the game until the closing minutes. We came out with a little more intensity the second half which allowed us to go on to victory. It is a week until our next game which will allow for some good practice time. The next game was changed to an away game at Blanchester.

Lady Lions defeat Felicity 8 - 0!

The girls varsity soccer team beat Felicity Tuesday night 8 - 0. Cassidy Martin had her 3rd shut-out for the season. Scoring the goals for New Richmond was Savannah Glenn with 4 goals, Noelle Schickling with 2, and Kelsey Fondelier with 2. Kelsey Fondelier's first goal was a header from a great cross from Noelle Schickling. Noelle had her second assist to Kelsey Fondelier during the 2nd half. The game was cut short due to lightening, with 9 minutes left to play. The team's record is now 5-4. The varsity plays at home again on Saturday against CHCA at 3:00!

Austin Warden named McScholar Athlete


New Richmond junior Austin Warden has been selected this week's McScholar Athlete of the Week by McDonald's This Week in Football newspaper that will be available later this week at all area McDonald's locations.

Warden also will be featured on McScholar's web page.

Freshmen defeat Indian Hill, 8-6

The Freshman took on Indian Hill last night in what became a defensive battle with the Lions winning 8-6.

Big Luke Hoskins came up with a big QB sack late in the game as well as a tackle
for a loss.

Nose Tackle James White added defensive pressure on the QB all game
long as well.

The secondary was led by Tanner Wolfe, Jake Preston, Matt Forsee
and Colt Reese. These four help shut down Indian Hills spread offense.

On offense the Lions were led again by Fullback Kevin Reid who battle for the Lions only two scores. The Freshman Lions are now 4 and 1.

A tough week over

Last week was a tough one for the boys. Two tough opponents back to back Monday and Tuesday, followed by a game on Thursday. Hopefully everyone recuperated over the weekend. We resume league play tomorrow at 5:00 against Felicity.

Lady Lions Soccer defeat the Lady Wildcats

The girls varsity soccer team defeated the Williamsburg Wildcats on Saturday, 4 - 0. Scoring the team's goals were Savannah Glenn and Cassie Grooms. Cassidy Martin had her 2nd shut-out for the season with the help of Noelle Schickling. The team's record has advanced to 4 - 4. The varsity team plays again on Tuesday at home against Felicity.

Cross Country: Boys Finish 7th, Girls 9th at Milford Invitational

The NRHS boys cross country team finished 7th and the girls 9th at the Milford Invitational at Miami Meadows Park this past Saturday. These were fantastic results for the lions considering the invitational had many of the top division I and division II teams in the city. Top runners included:

LADY LIONS VARSITY VOLLEYBALL

Congratulations to the Lady Lions who defeated Bethel in the Tri-Match Saturday 9/19/09,
25-8 and 25-14. The Lady Lions also took on East Clinton and lost 2 out of 3 games. After winning the 1st game 25-20 we struggled in the 2nd losing 14-25. The 3rd game was a long battle between the two teams in which we fell short 2 points and were defeated 25-23. The match was full of excitement from the stands supporting their teams as well as the players fighting for a victory on the court.
