New Richmond junior Oliva Behymer shattered the 29-year old school record in the girls 100 meter dash with a time of 12.47 Wednesday in the preliminary round of the New Richmond Track Invitational. The previous record was 12.6 seconds by Shannon Maley in 1984.
She came back Thursday to break the school record in the 200 meters with a time of 26.35. Shannon Maley's (1984) and Beth Pate's (1985) shared the old record at 26.5. She broke Lisa Taylor's record (60.01) in the 400 meter run as a freshman with a time of 57.73.
Behymer was a 6th place finisher in the 400 meters in the 2011 OHSAA state Division II track championships.
Behymer's victories in the three sprints helped the Lady Lions win the New Richmond Invitational with a team total of 143.92 points. Second Place went to Western Brown with 74.92.
Also taking first in their events were Eleanor Wildey in the discus (90-02), Hannah Hall in the high jump (4-11) Kara Burns in the 3200 meters (12:14.39) and the 4x800 relay team of Emily Belmont, Claire Burns, Sarah Glenn and Maren Hance (10:36.3).
