New Richmond High School Volley for the Cure

The New Richmond High School Volleyball team will hold its annual Volley for the Cure Monday, October 5, during homecoming week to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.

In 2007 the New Richmond volleyball teams raised nearly $425 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and in 2008 this amount increased to over $525. The volleyball teams would like to make this a community wide event and raise even more money this year. We applaud these girls for “Making a Difference” through their sport.

The Lady Lions play Goshen October 5th with the JV game starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

The volleyball players would also like to invite everyone to the match so we can “Pack the Stands.” Admission is only $1 for anyone wearing a Volley for the Cure shirt.

Volley for the cure shirts are available through noon Wednesday, Sept. 16. Shirt types are listed below. Make checks payable to New Richmond High School and turn your order in to Carla Corbin at the high school.

Lady Lions Soccer Fall to the Batavia Lady Dawgs

The night started with a hard loss by the girls jv squad. The final score was 7-1 with Kayla Owens scoring New Richmond's goal. The team looks to try for a victory when they play Batavia next Monday at home.

The varsity team had a tough battle agaisnt Batavia as well, losing 5-3. The girls played the best they have played all season, and went goal for goal with the Lady Dawgs. A few changes had been made in formation and positioning which allowed the team to defend well. New Richmond had the first goal of the night by Senior, Noelle Schickling, assisted by Freshman, Sarah Glenn. Sophomore, Kelsey Hensley scored the second goal for New Richmond on a direct kick. The third goal for the Lady Lions was assisted with a great cross from Kelsey Hensley, with a header into the goal by Sarah Glenn! The varsity team plays at home this Thursday against Georgetown.

LADY LIONS VARSITY VOLLEYBALL

The Lady Lions were defeated by Western Brown last night 3 out of 4 games. After a struggle in the first game losing 15-25 the Lady Lions came back strong and won 25-19 but then fell short in the third 12-25. The last game of the match was a battle to the end in which we were defeated 18-25.

LADY LIONS VARSITY VOLLEYBALL

The Ladies Lady were defeated by Summit Country Day 2 out of 3 games Saturday 9/12/09. We won the first game 25-21 then struggled and lost in the second 13-25 and 22-25. The Lady Lions played much better against Norwood who really stepped up the playing level though we fell short the game was a good match. We lost the first 19-25, came back with a win 25-18 and was defeated in the third 25-22.

New Richmond CC Teams Finish 7th, 9th at Mason Invitational

The girls cross country team finished a respectable 7th, and the boys a respectable 9th at the Mason Invitational this past Saturday, September 12th. Despite missing some runners due to illness and the ACT test, the lions were able to hold their own with over 20 teams in their bracket of the invitational. Top runners included:

The lions travel to Georgetown for the Georgetown Invitational this Wednesday!!

Freshmen defeat Milford, 7-3

Kevin Reid score on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter to give the New Richmond freshman football team a 7-3 win over Milford on Saturday to improve their season record to 3-0.

Reid's touchdown ended a 65-yard drive by the Lions, who had held Milford to a field goal after a goal-line stand.

New Richmond's freshmen, who defeated Roger Bacon and Anderson in their first two games, host Glen Este at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
