The Lions Fast Pitch teams added two wins to their total this past week. They started off the week with West Clermont foes Amelia and Gen Este. Kelsi Curry returned to the pitching circle (from injury) against Ameila on Monday and turned in a strong performance in a 5-0 defeat to the Barons. On Tuesday, the Lions were blanked by the tough Glen Este Trojan squad 13-0. Wednesday saw Curry return to the circle with her first complete game victory with an exciting 4-3 win over rival Bethel. Defense was the key with Bailey Deweese starting two double plays and Cassidy Martin making a couple spectacular catches in center field to help preserve the win. On Thursday, the Lions travelled to Norwood to thump the Indians 14-3 in 5 innings. Cidney Adams went the distance to record her 5th win of the season. Bethany Smith led the offense with a 3 for 5 performance at the plate. This win moved the Lions into 3rd place in the SBAAC American division. On Friday, the Lions met the tough Western Brown Broncos, who once again proved too tough for the Lion squad. They hung with the talented Broncos for four innings, but the powerful offense of Western Brown put the Lions away 10-0.
The Lions travel to Goshen on Monday for their final SBAAC battle. They are currently in 3rd place with a 4-5 record in the league. The Lions will recognize the seven seniors on senior recognition night Wednesday, May 8th when they battle neighbor rival Anderson. The Lions will seek to avenge an early season loss to the Redskins. The game will start at 4:30 pm after a short ceremony honoring the 2013 seniors. The game is scheduled to be broadcast on the local internet radio broadcast if you are unable to attend.
