New Richmond led the team standings after the first night with 82.5 points, ahead of Bethel-Tate with 64 and Wyoming with 53. Host Western Brown was in fourth place with 44 points and Taylor was No. 7 with 35 points. New Richmond had 13 wrestlers post quarterfinal victories, including top seeds Brody Hooks (113), Austin Skaggs (120), Cory English (160), Nathan Dixon (220) and J.R. Forsee (285).
