The Varsity Baseball Team defeated Goshen in shutout fashion on Friday by the score of 7-0. Steven Binder tossed the complete game shutout while the Lions defense played strong behind him. Zak Ritter led the offense with three hits, including two doubles. Earlier in the week, the Lions came up short against the early league leaders Western Brown by the score of 7-6, and dropped a heartbreaker to rival Bethel by the score of 12-9. In both losses, the Lions were alittle too generous on the defensive side, walking a total of 10 opponents and committing a total of 10 errors for the two games
The JV Lions had a great week by winning all three games against Western Brown, Bethel, and Goshen. The Bethel win was capped off by a dramatic bottom of the seventh comeback as the Lions scored four runs in this last inning to dispose of the Tigers. Austen Craig came up with the big game-winning hit for the Lions and Chris Lawrence pitched very effectively in relief to get the win.
Up next for the Lions are Batavia on Wednesday, 4/13 (JV away and Varsity at home)
