The varsity boys basketball team notched their first win of the season Tuesday night @ Williamsburg. The Lions started off on fire, erupting for a ten point lead just four minutes into the game. Williamsburg fought back and led at halftime 29-27. The lions, however, did not give up and fought for a seven point lead with 2 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. The wildcats got 7 quick points on some well defended shots, but the Lions hit their free throws and executed their plays to ensure the victory. The lions held on the beat the Wildcats by a score of 65-62. The wildcats record falls to 13-3 with the loss. Leading the way for the lions was Nick Hill with 15 points and 5 assists. He also hit two clutch free throws with 4 seconds left to seal the victory. Also leading the way were Joey McCabe 14 points and 12 rebounds, Chris Turner with 12 points and 5 rebounds, and Zak Ritter with 8 points. Shane Campbell and Steven Binder combined for 10 points, but it was their defense that truly helped the lions. Austen Craig hit a clutch 3 late in second quarter to end a tough scoring drought. Everyone contributed to a great win. The lions host Bethel Tate on Friday night.
