Michael Skaggs hit three home runs, including the game winning 2-run homer in the bottom of the seventh, to lead the Lions to a dramatic 18-17 comeback win over Goshen Friday.
Zak Ritter picked up the win with 2 innings of outstanding relief pitching, stopping what had been a Goshen slugfest. Goshen led 14-4 after 3 1/2 innings but the Lions came back with 4 runs in their half of the inning to stay in the game.
Goshen built its lead back to 17-11 in the top half of the 6th inning only to have the Lions cut the score to 17-16 in their next to last time at bat, three runs coming on Skaggs' second home run.
After Ritter set Goshen down 1-2-3 in the top of the seventh, Dylan Senters got a lead off walk to set up Skaggs' game winner for a total of 7 runs batted in for the game.
Steven Binder also had a solo home run for the Lions, who improved to 14-5 overall and 9-2 in the SBAAC American Division. The Lions host first-place CNE on Monday needing a win in that game and a win in a make-up game against Bethel on Thursday to tie the Rockets for the Division title.
