The already tough schedule for the New Richmond freshman football team just got tougher with the addition of a home game against Milford at noon Saturday, Sept. 12.
Lions head coach Dan Scholz added another challenging game to the freshman schedule earlier this week when he announced Glen Este would come to New Richmond on Wednesday, Sept. 16 for a 6 p.m. game.
The Lions' 9th graders, who open the season at 5 p.m. today at Roger Bacon, will play at Anderson at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9 before hosting Milford and Glen Este. The Glen Este game will be followed by a game at Indian Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
"These games will show our kids what is needed to compete at a high level," said Scholz.
The scheduled game Sept. 28 was canceled by Clermont Northeastern due to lack of numbers on their freshman team.
The second half of the freshman football schedule has the Lions hosting Wyoming at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5 and Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wedsnesday, Oct. 21 and playing at Goshen at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 and at Western Brown at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26.
Goshen and Western Brown are the only other Southern Buckeye Conference schools fielding freshman teams in 2009.
