On Thursday night the girls varsity soccer team played their last game for the season against Mariemont. The team had made it past Round 1 of the tournament, defeating Cincinnati Christian, and knew they would face a tough team, #3 Seed Mariemont. The 6-0 score wasn't a reflection of how hard the girls played and especially the first half. Though the season is over we still walked away as SBAAC Champs with 3 league All-Stars. Noelle Schickling and Cassie Grooms for 1st Team, and Savannah Glenn for 2nd Team.
The coaches and players would like to thank our seniors for their hard work and positive guidance throughout the season. We are very proud of Allie O'Brien, Carley Grogan, Megan Landers, Holly Loreaux, and Noelle Schickling and wish them nothing but the best!
The Varsity and JV Girls Soccer Banquet has been schedule for Monday, October 26th at the Olive Garden at 5:30pm. The girls were given a flyer with this information and information on the area club teams' upcoming try-outs.

Lady Lions moving to Round 2 in Tournament
Congratulations to the girls varsity soccer team on their 2-0 victory over Cincinnati Christian last night. With the help of the defense, Cassidy Martin was able to get her 6th shut-out of the season. The two goals for the Lady Lions were scored by Savannah Glenn with assists from Kelsey Fondelier, and Kelli Bosse. This win places the team in the 2nd Round of the tournament playing #3 seed Mariemont at 7:00 on Thursday, at Mariemont.
Also, congratulations are in order for Noelle Schickling and Cassie Grooms for being chosen 1st Team All-Stars as well as 2nd Team All-Star Savannah Glenn.

Lions still in playoff position
The Lions will remain 7th in this week's computer rankings that decide the 8 teams in the Division III Region 12 playoffs despite the 21-14 loss to Goshen Friday and in a position to make the playoffs with wins over 4-4 Western Brown next week and 2-6 Greenville the final week of the season.
In the unofficial Joe Eitel rankings (which duplicates the computer formula the OHSAA uses to determine playoff spots) released Saturday, New Richmond has an average of 11.8112. Chaminade-Julienne leads the region with an average of 16.5125 followed by Logan Elm (15.9500), Monroe (15.3251), Wyoming (13.7875), Springfield Shawnee (13.2625), Goshen (12.6000), New Richmond and Jackson (11.3625).
Shawnee still must play 7-1 Bellefontane and winless Dayton Stebbins while Goshen must play 4-4 Bethel and 7-1 Div. II West Carrollton. Jackson (7-1) still has 8-0 Logan and 7-1 Zanesville left on the schedule and could move ahead of the Lions with a win in either of those games.

Goshen's Jamie Ashcraft hit Matt Arnold for a 34-yard touchdown with 6:18 left in the game to put Goshen up 21-14 and then the Goshen defense stopped the Lions to give the Warriors the win in a SBAAC showdown for first place in the SBAAC.
The defeat dropped the Lions to 7-1 on the season and assured Goshen of no worse than a tie in the SBAAC American Division. The Lions could still tie for the title should Bethel pull off an upset of the Warriors next Friday and the Lions defeat Western Brown on Senioir Night.
New Richmond remains in the hunt for a Division III playoff spot but must close out the season with wins over Western Brown and Greenville. Goshen can get a spot in the playoffs with wins over Bethel and then 7-1 West Carrollton to end the season.
Goshen's defense ruled the night, holding the Lions to under 100 yards rushing for the game and stopping the Lions at the Goshen 2-yard line when time ran out in the first half.
The Lions took a 6-0 lead in the second quarter on Andrew Nealan's 11-yard TD run but failed to convert the PAT.
Goshen responded quickly when freshman Marcus Casey got around the corner and went 54-yards for the TD.
Ashcraft, who alternates between QB and tailback, gained 138 yards in 30 carries for Goshen, but it was the Lions' inablility to stop 220-pound senior fullback David Prewitt (92 yards in 15 carries and 1 TD) that proved the difference. Prewitt also recorded 11 tackles and 4 assists on defense.
With the ground game stopped by Goshen's control f the line of scrimmage, New Richmond turned to passing and junior QB Garrett Myers responded with 9-of-17 passing for 114 yards including a 10-yard TD pass and 2-point conversion pass to Brian Mazzaro that tied the game at 14-14.
Andy Case led the NR defense with 8 solo tackles and 3 assists. Jake Gundler and Mike Skaggs each recorded 7 solo tackles.

LADY LIONS VARSITY VOLLEYBALL
The Lady Lions were defeated last night at Western Brown 25-21, 25-15 and 25-12. Western Brown is the league champs this year and New Richmond second. We will go against Wilmington Saturday in Goshen at the sectionals.
