Jamboree

The Football team will travel to Norwood for their final scrimmage against Norwood. The game is a Jamboree and there will be a $6 admissions charge. The game starts at 7:30 hope all can come out for the final tune up before the season kickoffs next Friday here against Indian Hill.

Lion Golfers Hit the Links With a Mighty Roar

The 2011 Lions golf team has gotten off to a fast and furious start this season. They have gotten off to an 18-3 record to begin the season. The team has played 72 holes so far this season and their average score for 9 holes is 163 which comes out to each man averaging 40.7 which is OUTSTANDING. Here is the recap of the first 4 matches of the season:

S.B.A.A.C. All-League Invitational @ Cedar Trace Golf Course 8/5/11

The Lions were matched up with 5 other teams ( Bethel, Blanchester, C.N.E.,Goshen, and Western Brown) from the S.B.A.A.C. League. The Lions shot a 332 and beat second place Blanchester by 19 strokes. Leading the Lions in scoring was Co-Medalist Freshman Chris mazzaro with a 76. Also scoring well were Juniors Evan McKinley and Henry Heidlage with 85's. Junior Austin Wells shot an 86 and Senior Austin Skaggs and Junior David Ohntrup shot 91's. (Record 5-0).

Batavia/Maderia Invitational @ The Vineyard Golf Course 8/9/11

The Lions played against some of the best talent in the city and matched up very well. The Lions placed fourth in a very strong field. The winners of the event were Indian Hill and Mariemont with 317's and third place was Taylor with a 318. The Lions came in 2 strokes from being in first place with a 319. Leading the Lions in scoring was Chris Mazzaro and Evan McKinley with 78's. Autin Wells (81), Freshman Kyle Heidlage (82), Henry Heidlage (84), and Austin Skaggs (89). (Record 11-3)

Bethel Invitational @ Friendly Meadows Golf Course 8/10/11

The Lions were matched up again with teams from the S.B.A.A.C. in the inagural Bethel Invitational. The field included Amelia, Batavia, Bethel, C.N.E.,Goshen and Western Brown. The Lions shot just well enough to beat second place Amelia 335-343 to win the tournament. Leading the Lions were Medalist Chris Mazzaro (76), 4th Medalist Evan McKinley (80), 6th Meadalist Austin Wells (87), Henry Heidlage (92), Austin Skaggs (95), and Junior Matt Rydzewski 102. (Record 17-3)

Bethel Dual Match @ Lindale Golf Course 8/11/11

The Lion Golfers were matched up againt league foe Bethel for the first dual match of the season. It was a slugfest right from the get go. The Lions held on to prevail 319-321. Both teams shot very well, but the home course advantage helped the Lions come out with the victory. Leading the Lions in scoring was Evan McKinley (77), Chris Mazzaro (80), Austin Wells and David Ohntrup (81's), Henry Heidlage and Kyle Heidlage (82's). (Record 18-3)

Vote for Danny Scholz for preseason honor

New Richmond senior linebacker Danny Scholz has been nominated for the 2011 Preseason All-TriStateFootball.com Team which will be determined in part by an online vote.

Go to this link http://www.tristatefootball.com/awards.asp#pd_a_5278179#pd_a_5278190#pd_a_5278190 and scroll down to the list ALL-TSF LINEBACKERS and cast a vote for Danny.

In total 189 players from three different states, 24 conferences and 87 schools make up the ballot which can be voted on at TriStateFootball.com from now through August 9.
Users can vote once every 12 hours. Online voting will account for 25 percent of the final tally with the tristatefootball.com staff votes accounting for 50 percent of the vote and coaches ballots counted as the other 25 percent.

Sports Foundation golf outing a huge success

The 2011 New Richmond Sports Foundation Golf Outing at Lindale Golf Club was a huge success with 22 teams participating in the 4-man scramble tournament.

The scramble was won by the team of Zack Kirkpatrick, Cole Kirkpatrick, Darren Flack, and Mike McCleary. Second place went to the team of Dean Johns, Craig Fischer, Todd Huss and Mark Majick.

NR cheerleaders get top rating

New Richmond High School’s cheerleaders came home with three blue superior ribbons and a superior team trophy from the Universal Cheerleaders Association camp at The Ohio State University July 18-21.

Senior Nicole Payton was named an UCA All-American and was invited to attend the UCA’s 2012 London Varsity Tour in London, England.

Team members are seniors Nicole Payton, Kirstin Mattingly, Emilee Bateman, Jordan Berger, and Nikki Dillow; junior Katie Gelter; sophomores Lexi Cook, Alyssa Hallahan, Amanda Nguyen, Kelsey Kirschner and Paige Willhoff; and freshmen Emma Feld, Mariah Corbin, Kelsi Curry, Ally Meadors, Jade Stamper, Rachel Benton and Jenny Roberts.

“The girls worked hard all week and are excited to perform new material during the 2011-2012 school year,” said Nieto.

Sports Foundation elects new officers

The New Richmond Lions Sports Foundation has elected new officers for the 2011-12 school year with Joel Loyd serving as president, Shelly Glenn as treasurer and Liz Buckingham as secretary.

New Richmond schools greatly appreciates the work of outgoing NRSF president Lana Silcott, vice-president Davd Bosse and treasurer Mary Binder and secretary Martha Glenn who served two-year terms.

The Sports Foundation assists New Richmond Schools by supporting New Richmond athletic activities and promoting excellence in education, values, leadership, physical fitness, discipline, sportsmanship, and equal opportunities for all.

The Sports Foundation helps high school teams with fund raising efforts and raises money to support all sports at the New Richmond High School.

One of the events the NRSF sponsors is the annual Meet the Teams pig roast at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Stadium. The pig roast will be preceded by the OHSAA mandated parents meeting at 6 p.m. at the middle school.

Charge for pig roast is $3.00 per person for non NRHS athletes. Anyone who joins NRLSF for 2011-2012 school year eats free.

NRSF memberships are $10 for individual, $20 for families and $40 for a business membership.
