NR Boys Tennis Team Improves to 4 - 1 With A Strong Showing Last Week
The New Richmond Boys Tennis Team improved to an overall record with wins over Maderia and Western Brown, and a heart-breaking loss to Bethel last week. Winners included;

NRHS Track Invitational a big success
A specail thanks to all of you that volunteered to help out with this past weeks track invitational. Many of you braved cold windy conditions to help and we very much appreciate all you did to make it a success. Also a big thanks to Pat Hill for running the meet for us. As always a great job by the people of New Richmond in running a track meet. We have a great reputation around the area of putting on a great event and this year was no exception. Without a doubt we have the best group of volunteers around. Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!

Lions drop tough one at CNE
The Lions lost 4-3 at Clermont Northeastern in a battle for first place in the SBAAC American Division.
Will Shoemaker put the Lions ahead 3-2 with a towering 3-run homer to left center but the Lions, who committed four errors in the first inning to give CNE two unearned runs, couldn't hang on for the win as CNE scored the winning run on a two-out bloop single in the sixth inning.
Besides the homer from Shoemaker, New Richmond got three hits from Steven Binder and two from Dylan Senters but they couldn't deliver the key hits when needed lef the bases loaded twice and 9 runners on for the game.
Austin Warden recorded 9 strikeouts in picking up his first loss of the season after three straight wins.
The loss dropped the Lions to 5-2 on the season and 3-1 in the SBAAC. Northeastern, which must play a rematch at New Richmond on May 3, improved to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the SBAAC.
The Lions play at Batavia on Monday.

Boys and Girls Youth Basketball Camp
The first annual Boys and Girls Youth Basketball Camp has been scheduled for the week of June 28-July 1st 2010. (Mon-Thu) The camp will be run for students entering grades 3-9. The camp will begin at 9:00 AM and conclude at 12:30 PM. The cost for the camp is only $20! Brochures (beginning next week) will be at the elementary schools and the middle school for students to pick up and I am working on getting them on the athletic site for download. Coach Benzinger gets 200th coaching win
Steven Binder pitched a complete game, striking out 7, and led the team with a homer and two RBIs as the Lions presented coach Brian Benzinger with his 200th coaching win with a 5-2 victory at Goshen Wednesday.
Will Shoemaker and Dylan Centers also homered for the 5-1 Lions who improved to 3-0 in the SBAAC.
"We didn't know it was his 200th win until Coach (John) Duncan told us and I'm excited just to be part of it," said Centers.
"What it says to me is that I've been really fortunate to have so many good players including this year's team and last year's," said Benzinger regarding his career win total. "I've had some dynamite players and going back to the early 2000s there's been some monster baseball teams here."
The Lions play at Clermnt Northeastern at 4:30 on Friday.

Warden shuts out Broncos
Austin Warden pitched a complete game shutout and Will Shoemaker delivered a big 2-run home run int he first inning as the Lions defeated Western Brown 3-0 Monday.
Warden, now 3-0 for the 4-1 Lions, struck out 12 batters and pitched out of three jams, one with runners on second and third with no outs.
"You won't see a better performance on the mound than what we saw from Austin Warden today," said Lions assistant baseball coach John Duncan.
"My curve ball was working today which helps me a lot when I get ahead," said Warden, "and that led to my strikeouts. I just kept the ball low."
New Richmond scored all its runs in the first inning after two were out. After doubling to deep center with two outs, Steven Bender scored from second when Andy Case reached first on a throwing error that pulled Western Brown's first baseman off the bag. Shoemaker then delivered his homer, a line drive over the center field fence.
"He threw it right down the middle, a two-and-0 pitch and I was looking for it and he threw it right where I wanted it," said Shoemaker.
The win improved the Lions to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Southern Buckeye Conference. The Lions play their next two games on the road, Wednesday at Goshen and Friday at Clermont Northeastern.
